Doverin

we do it anyway

an exploration of soft, and hard, power

A self-taught artist whose love of street art developed out of a natural combination of wanderlust, insomnia, and a seriously tight budget, Doverin’s style is especially informed by her sexuality and experiences traveling alone. Her use of BDSM- and fetish-themed images lures you in, but it's the way she upturns expected power dynamics with a wink that really sticks with you.

Doverin is a deeply silly, queer, gorgeous artist who takes images created by and for the male gaze and re-centers them for her own stupid fun. What start out as Tanks of World War II photo books or 1970s Playboy magazines are meticulously cut by hand and glued together in physical collages, copied, enlarged and enhanced with neon spray paint, gold leaf, hand made stamps, shower curtain, and just about anything else that looks cool to become colorful mixed-media pieces. View her original collages here.

Her art has been found in New York, London, New Orleans, Portland, Paris and beyond. She is currently based in Montreal (et oui, elle parle français).
